Summary

The First Intifada, or uprising, differed greatly from the intense violence and bloodshed seen in the Second Intifada. Even without the same level of violence, the events from 1987-1993 completely altered Israeli history. 1:02.2	revolution and maybe even liberation.
1:07.3	For many Israelis, they might hear the word of the fada and think of fear, terrorism, and violence.
1:15.0	If when you hear into Fada, you think of intense and horrific bloodshed suicide bombings,
1:21.0	you're probably thinking about the second intifada in the early 21st century.
1:26.2	Those were bloody violent years that saw over 1100 Israelis killed, the vast majority of
1:31.9	them civilians and 8,000 wounded.
1:34.0	The Palestinians saw over 4,900 deaths and over 8,500 wounded.
1:39.0	But this episode is about the first Intifada, which began in the late 80s and was very different from the second.
1:47.2	Due to a multitude of factors including the intensity of the violence of the second Intifada,
1:52.0	and also obviously the recency of it I think most people
1:55.0	tend to think of this time period when they hear the word intifada.
