Hey everybody, editor Josh recommended that I put something here at the beginning of the episode.

I am recording this on my phone and sending it to him to be placed in.

That's why it sounds like crap.

But this is coming out on a Tuesday instead of a Monday because Sunday night I was able to get my friend Joe Rose

to come on and talk with me about this new Pope, the first American Pope, what people are

kind of expecting from him, the ways in which he is similar and possibly dissimilar to Pope Francis,

sort of how popular the Pope is in the United

States, the role that the Pope might play and how that might change with an American Pope.

But also we get into some personal stuff. Joe is an evangelical who returned to the Catholic

faith of his mother's family, along with most of his large

family about 10 years ago. And so he and I have kind of two different tracks. As long-time

listeners know, I got pretty close to becoming Catholic five, six years ago, ultimately decided

not to, but still have a lot of warmth and appreciation

for that tradition. So we get into some of that stuff as well. Thank you for your patience with

the slightly different schedule here. I can't wait for August and beyond when my wings have been

no longer clipped by this year-long internship, and

appreciate all your guys' patience.
