We are continuing our explanation of one of the most fundamental and famous primers or beginning books of Fikh in the Humbari method.

And that is Al-Umda by Ibn Kudama Al-Makdisi.

And we are doing the Kitab of Salah.

We skipped over Tahara because as for those of you who didn't attend our last week, I have done Tahara last year in much more detail.

So we are going to now start with the today we are going to do Babu Shrutah Salah or the chapter regarding the Shrut of Salah.

And the Shrut, the meaning of Shrut is a precondition.

And what this means is that in order for any action to be accepted before you begin the action you have to have the Shrut done.

So this is a checklist before you begin.

If you don't have the checks marked on this checklist, you cannot begin.

Therefore every action or I should say almost every action has certain Shrut. It has certain preconditions.

And the difference between a Shrut and a Rukun.

We are going to come to Rukun in a while in a few weeks, two weeks maybe.

Is that the Rukun is inside the action.

Whereas a Shrut is before the action.

So a Rukun or the Arcan we are going to do.

And the Wajibat, these are inside of the action.

And the Sunan, these are inside of the action.

As for the Shrut, this is before the beginning of the action.

So we begin by talking about the preconditions of Salat.

And in order for Salat to be accepted, all of these conditions have to be marked or otherwise excused.

So you either have a legitimate excuse in which case it is forgiven or all of these have to be marked.
