Today's study in Nehemiah Chapter 8 is called The Fine art of Insight.

For several months now,

for several months now, the children of Israel under Nehemiah's superb leadership

have been rebuilding the protective wall around the ancient city of Jerusalem.

They've done that amid much criticism in opposition.

On top of that has been internal strife and economic hardship.

The leader Nehemiah has weathered the storms and the response of the Israelites has been nothing short of magnificent.

The wall was completed.

That led to a great revival that you may remember.

There was much rejoicing, for having been brought back to their homeland after a long captivity.

It was a great time of celebration.

In our last time together, we learned of this spiritual revival as led by Ezra at the Watergate.

It was just the beginning of the Israelites desire to remodel themselves before the Lord.

In search of a solid foundation in the law, they returned to the priest Ezra, seeking

insight, wisdom that could be built into their daily lives. In a grand way, those people committed themselves to clearing

away the rubble of wrong thinking and their old patterns of living, and replacing those things with obedience to the Lord and to

his law.
