Summary

(2 Timothy 4:19) Toward the end of their lives, Aquila and Priscilla are marked by the same thing they were when Scripture first introduces them—faithfulness to the Lord. This faithfulness enabled them to finish well and is still adding fruit to their account. Hello, friends, this is Scott Paul.

Thank you for studying the Word of God again with us this week, the life of Aquila and Priscilla.

Do you remember in our last study that I said that we are stewards, stewards of the truth,

0:18.1

stewards of everything?

0:19.5

Well, the Bible says that it is required in stewards

0:21.9

that a man be found faithful. And indeed, today, that is the principle that we come to as we close

our study of this Bible couple. We come to the final mention of Aquila and Priscilla, and it is

found in the final chapter the

Apostle Paul ever wrote. 2 Timothy chapter 4, it may seem to be just a passing reference,

0:45.2

but remember there's nothing incidental in Scripture. There's nothing there just because

0:50.4

the Holy Spirit inspired every word of the word, so why are they mentioned again?

0:55.8

In 2 Timothy chapter 4, verse 19, Paul has been calling out a number of names, and he says

salute, Prissa, and Aquila. This is one of those occasions where her name comes before

1:07.6

his, and her name is the shortened form of Priscilla, but it is the same

couple. And Paul at the end of his life, nearing the final chapter himself, thinks of them. He

1:18.4

thinks of them fondly, and he sends greeting to them. Now, why would that be significant

1:23.4

and what principle can we learn? Well, it's very important that you understand that we are in 2nd

Timothy chapter 4 more than 15 years removed from when we first met them in Acts chapter

number 18. What does that mean? It means that though some like Demus had forsaken and others had departed and some had fallen by the

wayside, that this couple, Aquila and Priscilla, had been faithful all the way to the final chapter.

1:55.1

To me, this is like the exclamation point on the story. This is so powerful because they were still together. They were still

serving the Lord. They were still encouraging the Apostle Paul. They were still connected to the work of a
