Summary

This week we are feeding you guys another wartime documentary. This one is called The Fighting Lady. A so-called "news drama" of the day, the Fighting Lady focuses on the exploits of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10) from her commissioning through many of the Navy battles and campaigns of the Pacific war from 1943-late 1944 including the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. 0:36.9	and we're sending in another placeholder episode this week as Bill and I produce episodes for season
0:42.6	five. This one this week is called The Fighting Lady. I'm sure a lot of you guys may have seen this
0:48.0	one, but a lot of you guys may not have, or even if you have, you probably haven't seen it in its
0:52.0	entirety. This film was produced in 1944 by the United States Navy,
0:57.1	and all of the footage that you see shot aboard aircraft characters
1:01.6	was shot aboard USS Yorktown CV-10.
1:05.7	Most of the footage, at least in the early part of the film,
1:08.4	was shot during her shakedown cruise,
1:10.3	and you kind of go through
1:11.4	the first half of a tour if you will at the Pacific aboard CV-10 with a lot of the footage that you see
1:19.2	here some of the other footage some of the grander footage like from Phil C and things like that were
1:23.4	obviously taken aboard other aircraft carriers and they were all compiled into this film. But it's really, really cool.
1:28.3	I remember watching this film as a kid, and I still get a kick out of it today.
1:33.3	It's awesome.
1:34.3	The footage in it is marvelous.
1:36.3	The narration is by Robert Taylor, who was a naval aviator during World War II,
