Good morning this Saturday, January the 8th. I'm Ali Velshi. There is brand new reporting this morning on the high-stakes ramp-up of the January 6th investigation in Congress.

But I want to start with a hard truth that's often overlooked when we talk about the attack on the Capitol that took place on January 6, 2021.

That violent attack itself was put down that day, but crucially, the insurrection was not. The attack on our democracy, the plot to
