Summary

This Sunday, Pastor Suzy Silk continued our sermon series through the Book of Acts, The Fifth Act, with a teaching on how Peter, empowered by the Holy Spirit, healed a lame man and faced the persecution from religious leaders by continuing to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus as Lord. Like Peter and John, we are called us to prioritize being with Jesus, and from this place, boldly proclaim the Gospel wherever we go—not because of our qualifications, but because of God’s power.

0:00.0	Today's teaching text is taken from Acts chapter 3 verses 1 all the way to Acts chapter 4,
0:13.0	verse 22. One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer.
0:27.2	At three in the afternoon, now a man who was lame from birth was being carried out to the temple gate called Beautiful,
0:32.1	where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.
0:35.7	When you saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
0:39.3	Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, look at us.
0:41.3	So the man gave him his attention, expecting to get something from them.
0:46.3	Then Peter said, silver or gold, I do not have, but what I do have, I give you.
0:51.3	In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk. Taking him by the right hand,
0:56.4	he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet
1:02.2	and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts walking and jumping and praising
1:08.0	God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized
1:12.6	him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were
1:17.8	filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. While the man held on to Peter and
1:23.7	John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called
1:27.8	Solomon's colonnade. When Peter saw this, he said to them, fellow Israelites, why does this surprise
1:33.8	you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we have made this man walk?
1:40.2	The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant,
1:45.5	Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided
1:51.8	to let him go. You disowned the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released.
1:57.6	You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
2:03.6	By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed them, as you can all see. Now, fellow Israelites, I know you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders,
