0:00.0 | Welcome back. You know what time it is. It's news desk time joining us today. We have contributor for the blaze and regular contributor on fearless with Jason Whitlock Delano squires. |
0:13.1 | And back again founder of Outkick and host of the clay Travis and Buck sexton show play Travis. |
0:19.8 | All right, I'm going to start with this topic because I was just talking about Leningains Johnson and I think it's a great time to announce that segregation is back in America. It's back and it's better than it was last time. |
0:34.5 | Western Washington University has implemented a segregated black only student housing they are referring to this as affinity housing just so you guys know and I don't want you to be confused. |
0:43.6 | This is not like segregation of days past. This is different because it's exactly like segregation of days past. So I will just turn to the panel to tell me why maybe I'm missing something and this is good and this is woke and it's progressive. |
0:58.5 | This is awful. I mean the entire purpose of higher education is by the time you get to college if you haven't been around people who might look different than you. |
1:07.5 | You need to at least be able to interact people on a normal individual basis as opposed to through all this identity politics prism that were I think totally lost in I think the twin pillars of the democratic party that are destroying this country right now are identity politics and cancel culture and to me the idea that we are in any way making the world better by insisting that people only surround themselves by people who think and look like them is everything that we fought against in the days of segregation. |
1:37.2 | And we don't seem to understand that is Matthew and Connie Hay said back in true detective time is a flat circle right back where we were oftentimes in the 1950s. |
1:46.4 | Oh, total buzzkill. What do you think Delano? |
1:48.8 | I mean I'm pretty familiar with affinity housing. I read the story it seemed like they have a floor in a particular dorm. It's one of those things where it's not necessarily the issue is how it's being used. |
2:00.8 | And I think right now in America everything that we see is about separation and I fear we're moving to a place of rapid tribalism. |
2:08.5 | So when I read it I said okay I'm I've been a college I'm familiar with these types of things. |
2:13.9 | What do you mean you're familiar with these types of things? |
2:17.1 | In terms of affinity housing. |
2:18.4 | Oh have you seen this in your college campus? That's why I'm interested. |
2:20.7 | Not mind necessarily. Typically what happens is that they'll have affinity housing off campus. |
2:24.8 | So they may have a house named for someone and that house may be typically reserved for instance let's say for black women or some other ethnic minorities. |
2:34.5 | So I'm not again it's not totally abnormal to me but I think in this day and age the notion that black students need to live in on a dorm that is culturally affirming whatever that means to you know whoever's running the university. |
2:48.8 | Is one in many respects that I find offensive because what is telling me is that they think that black students are too soft, too weak, and too fragile. |
2:57.4 | To be part of the broader university campus and one of the hardest things in this world and you all know this is to maintain unity. |
3:05.1 | Whether it's in your marriage, whether it's in the church, whether it's your sports dynasty, a music group or a country. |
3:13.0 | And as I said, I fear we're moving to rapid tribalism. So these types of things I don't think help that particular situation. |
