Welcome back to the Adam Schaefter podcast.

And as we record this, Tuesday morning, we are exactly 100 days until the kickoff of the NFL regular season, the Detroit Lions at the Kansas

City Chiefs.

And wait to you see how fast these 100 days go.

Before you know it, we'll be prepping for that Thursday night opener in Kansas City,

and the 100 days, I believe, will fly right through.

Until then, we are going to be joined today by the 49ers outstanding defensive lineman,

Eric Armstead, a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of the University of Oregon.

He's now entering his ninth season with the 49ers,

where he's been a vital part of their defensive line. And during that time, he's also been the 49ers

nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award three times for his exceptional community

work off the field. And that will continue Thursday night when he hosts his first annual kick-off for kids' charity event benefiting the Armstead Academic Project, which ensures education equity for the next generation.

And the work that he's done with his foundation, with the Armstead Academic Project,

it's outstanding.

Basically, it was founded in 2019, from football camps to mentoring youth and detention.

The nonprofit has reached 5,000 at-risk youth from the Bay Area to Sacramento

and the Armstead Academic Project has provided

free tutoring, STEM education, Chromebooks, writing workshops and field trips to colleges in partnership

with affordable housing developer, Mercy Housing. Armstead has poured more than a half a million

dollars of his own money into the nonprofit.

So we'll be joined by him, and he's got a lot to say, and he's already contributed an awful lot.
