Good morning. It is Sunday, January the 11th. Protesters plan to take to the streets again today as Americans continue to call for accountability for the death of Renee Good, who was shot by an ice officer in Minneapolis on Wednesday.

Organizers have called for a weekend of

action. They've called on people to mobilize, to march, to rally, to attend vigils, or participate

in other community-based events. This afternoon, protests are scheduled in places like New York City,

Dallas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. People took to the streets yesterday in Los Angeles, in Boston, Washington,

D.C., and of course, in Minneapolis, where protests have been ongoing since the shooting,

thousands of protesters marched out in the snow yesterday afternoon in the neighborhood, in and

around Powderhorn Park. Still more people paid respect to Renee Good during a vigil at the

site of the shooting.

Minneapolis is currently the prime target of the Trump administration's divisive mass deportation operations. Despite the widespread outcry over the shooting and ICE's aggressive tactics,

the Department of Homeland Security has doubled down, both in terms of its operations in Minneapolis

and in its campaign to justify

the shooting of Renee Good. On X yesterday, the White House press secretary, Caroline Levitt,

called Renee Good, quote, a leftist insurrectionist, adding to the other terms like domestic

terrorist and a deranged leftist that other Trump administration officials have

already used. In a little while, I'm going to tell you who Renee Good actually was.

Meanwhile, Homeland Security's own account published a post last night with a photo of an airplane

on tarmac with the caption, quote, lawbreakers going wheels up in Minneapolis, which purportedly signals

that they are continuing with deportations. The Trump administration is also restricting

lawmakers' ability to visit ICE facilities again, even though a federal judge ruled just three weeks

ago that they cannot enforce such policies. In a new memo dated January 8th, one day after Renee Good was shot and killed, the Homeland

Security Secretary Christy Noem wrote that she was reissuing the policy that lawmakers must
