So here's the problem when you suck.

Everything's in play.

There's no such thing as a wrong answer and everything becomes about the big picture.

So this week on Breaking Balls, Red Sox edition, I want to focus on Trevor's story.

This seems to be a popular theme now because story has been brutal since the beginning of the year.

And I don't think you can emphasize enough that what is the point of continuing to play

Trevor's story if you have nothing to play for in 2026, which it certainly feels like for

the Red Sox.

And at the same time, you have young guys on the team that you're trying to develop

and who are out of position.

And when I say trying to develop, this is now one of the tasks at the major league level,

getting these guys ready to play and compete in the big leagues,

which I'm astonished that we're at this stage with the Red Sox,

where they've effectively become a four-A team.

But we're going to start with Trevor Story because on the day or on the days that

Alex Corr was fired and Chad Tracy assumed control of the managerial office or the managerial

post in the Red Sox organization, there was clearly a message coming out about how things were going to change going forward.

Certainly those all emanate from Craig Breslo, the president of baseball operations or the chief

baseball officer, as it were.
