There's a lot to go through today in a short amount of time,

so I'm not going to ramble on on why you should be subscribed to the podcast,

The story today is shocking, it's heartbreaking,

and like so many other cases we talk about,

it's completely senseless.

And anytime kids are involved as victims, it amps up the anxiety level for me. In October of 2013, Brian Sweat was shouldering the weight of his habitual poor decisions,

and the consequences were about to rain all over him.

He had a long history of offenses, including assault and battery, larceny, theft, forgery,

dozens of traffic-related defenses, and probation

violations. And he was due in court on the day we're going to talk about, facing a charge of

burglary that could have put him away for 30 years. Brian Sweat was only 27 years old, but looked

more like a weathered 45, tattoos that resemble the quality you'd get from a guy that knows a guy that does him in his

kitchen for a case of beer, ran up and down his arms and his hands, including one that

resembles a clown-slash-devil-looking skull, pretty prominent on his forearm.
