Foraging

It used to be an everyday necessity that many hundred years ago.

To be able to understand the local flora of where one lived and learning the difference between

edible and poisonous plants was one of the only educational lessons that mattered.

Nowadays however there's no need to have to learn the ways of the local plant life.

The rise of agriculture and grocery stores provides us with all the food that we will ever

need now.

Despite this though I began to develop a fascination with forging once I turned 16.

Something about the idea of being able to provide for myself in the wild if ever need

be sued some primal lizard brain anxiety within me.

To enlighten the newfound passion I began to purchase books about edible and medicinal

plants in the region of the Midwest, you know, where I live.

The books were helpful due to the fact that they not only helped identify plants, they

also disclosed where, how, and when to forge them.

It honestly was so fascinating discovering how many of the common plants I see everyday

are actually edible or have medicinal value.

I always love nature.

Learning about how to safely interact with its plant life really seemed to help me become

more in tune with my surroundings.

Doing what I know now though, I wish I never had taken an interest in forging.

I wish I never decided to leave the house that day.
