0:00.0	I grew up with that Cold War idea of the West as a thing that was sort of moral and great
0:05.9	and worth standing up for against the sort of slave empire of communism, and then I suddenly
0:10.4	realized that like 20, 30 years no one had been taught that, and the current generation
0:15.6	don't know that story. In fact, they only know the other story, which is the one that says,
0:19.4	you know, the West is uniquely evil and awful. We're under threat from without, because there
0:24.7	are very real people, Chinese and the Russians who are coming together now very explicitly
0:30.4	and saying, we want a different world order. What you get in Magna Carta is the idea of the rule of
0:36.9	law. We talked about individualism. The thing about the rule of law is it says every individual,
0:42.9	even the king, is under the same law, and we can go to court and we can thrash it out and we'll
0:48.1	follow the rules and we'll see who comes out on top. The other threat is inside, and that is the
0:54.0	fact that we have started to not teach, first of all, to not teach about Magna Carta or the West
0:59.3	or what it is, and in fact, to teach the opposite, to teach that it is awful. So foundations
1:05.4	of the Western system are just being knocked down casually by people who don't understand,
1:11.3	because they haven't been taught what they mean, and how everything that they value,
1:16.8	everything that makes their lives what they are, rests on these things, and there's a reckoning
