Revenge is fleeting. It can carry a man for a lifetime, but not for eternity.

No one knows this more than I do.

I don't know how much time has passed in the dark, wrapped in injuries that refuse to heal,

with no light to see. A voice long turned too hoarse to speak.

Even the voice of the God in my head is indecipherable now.

Its constant prattling and prophesying have turned into gibberish. Once, I had power that rivaled

the pharaohs themselves. I would have taken over Egypt and spread the influence of my dark

god throughout the known world.

For decades, visions of my victories played through my mind, giving me comfort against the wounds

carved into my flesh. My defiance was shouted for centuries with no one to hear me but me and my

God. Revenge can motivate, but a man needs more than motivation

to break the chains of captivity. Eternity is a vast stretch of time that man was not meant

to see or experience. If one ever traveled down its path, they would be driven mad by isolation and loneliness.

I know this now, and the price of my wisdom is everything.

To have faith is to have certainty.

There is a comfort that comes from the knowledge that you are a member of the true faith.

Our gods were our liberators. Without them, they would only be chaos and insanity.

This was told to me by many different voices growing up.

Everyone must work hard and trust in the gods, their emissary, the Pharaoh, and maintain their ma'at, the divine balance.

Every honest Egyptian believed these facts, yet I felt a drawing and a power in these words more than the average citizen.

That's why I entered the clergy and studied my whole life to become a priest. I gave up my life in service to the God Amin.
