The European Union has approved comprehensive regulations for artificial intelligence.

Deep fake images, video and audio will need to be labeled as AI generated. Some uses of the technology will be banned

such as emotion recognition systems in schools and workplaces. There are a host of other

requirements especially for generative AI uses considered risk, such as in health care and banking.

The rules are set to take effect later this year and could set a benchmark for countries elsewhere.

A coalition of some 140 banks is calling on its members to start tracking carbon emissions

associated with capital markets. For example, a bank would track emissions associated with

a company that wants to make an initial public offering. The Net Zero Banking Alliance is backed by the

United Nations. Dollar Tree says it will close nearly a thousand stores, almost all of them

under its family dollar brand. The Virginia-based company says customers are spending less
