Welcome to That Traflon Show, the podcast presented by Scientific Traathlon and hosted by me, Michael Erikson.

0:15.9

And with me today, once again, it's Jack Hutchins. How are you doing, Jack?

0:20.0

Hey, Michael, yep.

0:21.1

Good, thank you.

0:22.1

I've been waxing my chains this morning in preparation for a race this weekend.

0:27.9

So got the rice cooker out, melted up the wax, de-gruce, isopropical alcohol.

0:35.0

It's a bit of a process, but all worth it for those extra watts on the bike.

1:41.5

So you don't have the grit and grease everywhere. Also when you're

1:46.2

traveling with your bike, so usually if you're trying to take a chain off, put your bike in a

1:51.2

bike box or something that just grease everywhere, it's just not very nice. Whereas a wax chain

1:55.9

is super clean. You can touch it and if it comes into contact with other parts of your kit or anything, you don't have to stress.

2:02.4

So I am a big fan of the chain wax.

2:07.0

And it's not that difficult to do yourself.
