Welcome to FT Weekend. I am your host, Lila at Raptopoulos. Today we are changing up the format to do something a little bit different because a film that shook the world came out recently. We're doing a roundtable about Taylor Swift. That means I should probably do this again. Hi, welcome.

0:21.5

I'm Lila Raptopoulos.

0:23.0

I am a nightmare dressed as a daydream.

0:27.8

I'm thrilled to be here in the New York studio with Anna Nikolao, our U.S. media correspondent.

0:34.0

She is the breeze in my hair on the weekend.

0:38.0

I truly couldn't be happier on the weekend. Hi.

0:38.7

I truly couldn't be happier to be here.

0:41.6

Also with us from London is Joe Ellison, editor of HTSI and deputy editor of F.T. Weekend, who is also crucially the James Dean daydream look in my eye. I don't know. Hi, Joe. Hi. How are you doing?

0:58.7

Very well. Thank you. So all three of us went to movie theaters recently for the opening weekend of Ares. That is the film version of Taylor Swift's sold-out Ares tour. The film is a cut-down version of Taylor Swift's U.S. tour. It was filmed during

1:14.1

her stop in L.A. over three nights. And over the course of the weekend, it has become the highest

1:20.4

grossing concert film of all time just in one weekend. Anna, it was right under Barbie. Is that

1:26.3

right? Yeah. No. Really?

1:29.4

Yeah. So basically for the price of a movie ticket as a movie goer, you get to be at the concert, have the best seat in the house, see everything that's going on. And that's great because the tour was famously exorbitant.

1:44.7

Jo, maybe you can explain the movie itself.

1:47.8

How was the show organized?

1:49.6

So it's effectively a ticket to the show, no frills, no backstage, no conversation, no monologue.

1:57.4

It's pretty much a kind of like break down a bridged version of exactly what you

2:02.6

would see in the stadium, except that you are watching it and like on the front seat in high

2:06.8

definition, swooping around with the drones and getting this kind of like incredible

2:10.8

access all areas sort of view of the show, which is a two hour, 48minute, I think, version of her ERA's tour, which is a condensed

2:22.8

version of her 10 studio albums that she's released, bridging 17 years of Taylor, the life

2:29.1

of Taylor Swift. Yes. Anna, what did we miss? Nothing. That was perfect. I mean, the, I guess the line out of the Taylor Camp was this is the way for people who couldn't afford to go to the show to experience it.
