Great to be here with all of you and thanks to Aditya and South Park Commons for organizing this.

I mean, I am here primarily out of curiosity, just like many of you are here.

All right. So what we're going to do now is, for the next 20 minutes or so, I'm going to speak, do a kind of a TED talk.

I've done two TED talks, and each time I promise that I won't do it one more,

because the most difficult thing that I've done is these TED talks.

It's around 20 minutes and it takes me 20 minutes to get started.

So, but I promised to be crisp.

I was told again and again, these are very smart people.

You don't have to tell jokes and keep there. They are interested already.

Sri Ramakrishna used to tell this parable about the washerman and the diamond.

So there's this traditional Indian washerman.

Those are from India, you heard the term, Dhabi.

So they collects your dirty laundry, goes to the riverbed, and washes it andubs it dry with the rock and then cleans it and gets it back to you. And this poor washerman,

he found a diamond. He didn't know what a diamond was. He had never seen one in his life,

but he knew this was not an ordinary rock. Every facet of this story is fascinating.

I mean, because it's connected to our topic today, of consciousness.

He didn't know what it was, but he thought it was a particularly pretty rock.

And he used it to scrub dirty laundry.

And then, but he was still curious.
