Sad news today.

The death of James Vanderbeek.

I was, what, 48 years old, far too young to die. And I was too old to get into Dawson's Creek.

And so I don't think I've ever actually seen an episode of Dawson's Creek. And so I don't think I've ever actually seen an

episode of Dawson's Creek. I've seen a million clips in my life and I heard that Paula Cole

song a billion times, whatever. I was definitely out and about at that point, but I was too old

to fall for that show. but I became familiar with James

Vanderbeek's work through a couple things everybody saw Friday night lights that

didn't really strike a chord with me either because playing football was never my

thing and I didn't grow up in Texas but the Jay and Silent Bob strike back not, but, you know, the fact he showed that he was willing to make fun of himself, to lampoon himself.

And I like that.

I appreciated that.

But what really got me to enjoy and be a fan of James Vanderbeek's work was his work in a show that you've probably never heard of called Don't Trust the Bee in Apartment 23.
