0:34.5	the enemy of all the world. This story written by Jack London in 1908 and
0:39.8	published in 1914 is considered to be science fiction. It's a story that follows the
0:45.0	career of a master criminal who is the product of a society that assumes little
0:48.8	responsibility for its actions. It's a well-written story. I hope you enjoy it. And now our story.
0:57.0	It was Silas Bannerman who finally ran down that scientific wizard an arch enemy of mankind,
1:02.0	A. Mil Gluck.
1:04.3	Gluck's confession before he went to the electric chair,
1:07.1	through much light upon the series of mysterious events,
1:10.0	many apparently unrelated, that so perturbed the world between the years 1933 and 1941.
1:17.2	It was not until that remarkable document was made public that the world dreamed of there
1:21.0	being any connection between the assassination of the King and
1:23.7	Queen of Portugal and the murders of the New York City police officers.
1:27.6	While the deeds of Emil Gluck were all that was abominable, we cannot but feel, to a certain extent, pity for the unfortunate,
1:36.0	malformed, and maltreated genius.
1:40.0	This side of his story has never been told before.
1:42.6	From his confession and from the great mass of evidence and the documents and records at the time,
1:47.2	we were able to construct a fairly accurate portrait of him, and to discern the factors and
1:51.9	pressures that molded him into the human monster he became,
1:55.0	and that drove him onward and downward along the fearful path he trod.
