So how today's episode will go is we'll talk a little bit about the history of what ancient civilizations believed when it came to the end of the world, and then we'll go into some failed predictions that have happened throughout history of people saying, hey, the world's going to end and it obviously didn't.

And then we're going to go into some strange facts and findings, and then after that, we will roll into the main part of today's episode, which is our theories section where we go over different scenarios that could possibly happen that would cause the world to end.

So with that being said, are you ready to get into today's episode, Dan? Hell yeah. Alright, well let's get into it.

MIT researchers developed a computer program called World One. This program gathered certain data around the world and used it to calculate what the future would look like for the human race. Its results were shocking.

The computer predicted that in the year 2020, the standard of living would decrease dramatically, and by the year 2040, civilization would completely collapse.

As shocking as this is, these apocalyptic claims are nothing new. For as long as humans have walked the earth, we have been predicting and wondering when and how the world will end.

Will it be a super volcano under Yellowstone National Park that erupts and destroys earth? Perhaps aliens will arrive and enslave everyone.

Maybe World War III will break out and nuclear weapons end up getting used, annihilating the entire planet, or just maybe the end of the human race will be at the robotic hands of artificial intelligence.

Now before we discuss those interesting theories as to what could cause the end of the world, let's first discuss a little bit about ancient civilizations and their beliefs regarding the end of the world.

So for thousands of years, ancient civilizations all around the world have made predictions about the end of the world.

For example, over 2,500 years ago, the Persian Empire, which was one of the largest empires the ancient world had seen at that point, had a state religion called Zoroastrianism.
