Welcome to Home of the Brave. I'm Scott Carrier. I went to Philadelphia to cover the protests

in the streets outside the Democratic National Convention.

It seemed to be a protest-worthy moment in place, and the city was expecting, or at least prepared

for 200,000 to clog the streets downtown and Phil FDR Park across from the Wells Fargo

Center where the convention would be held.

But that didn't happen.

Only 2,000 people showed up and although they were of strong voice,

some pounding drums, their marches and demonstrations amounted to a mere blip on the screen compared to the historic event that happened inside the arena.

For the first time, a woman was nominated to be President of the United States. The protesters outside found no joy in this. They knew Hillary

Clinton to be a tool of the oligarchs and the military industrial complex the same as Barack Obama.

They knew the cards had been stacked against Bernie Sanders in the primary elections.

They came from California and Massachusetts, Michigan and Florida, because maybe if enough people showed up,

they could force a contest on the convention floor.

But that didn't happen,

and the relatively small crowds pressed up against the fence surrounding the parking lot that surrounded the basketball arena.

After a couple of days, they just sounded like sore losers.

I have interviews with people who were there,

but at this point, what they said seems irrelevant and uninteresting, because they lost big time and I am one of

them being there and seeing it all go down felt like watching America roll over and die.

If people don't turn out to protest,

then the oligarchs of the military industrial complex can do whatever they want.

And what they want is more war, more terror, more global warming,
