A few days ago, when the U.S. women's team was eliminated from the World Cup,

it marked the end of a history-making run of victory.

But according to my colleague, Rory Smith,

it also marked the end of something even bigger,

an entire era that redefined women's sports.

Where are we exactly in the tournament right now?

This is really confusing for me, so it's Friday in Australia and New Zealand when they start,

which I think is still Friday in the U.K.

But it might be Thursday in the U.S.

And I can't do the three.

Yeah, two global time jumps is kind of all the brain can sustain.

Well, as we're hinting at, you are in Australia covering the waning days of the Women's World Cup.

And you are graciously tolerating this ungodly time difference of 14 hours from all of us here in New York.
