Tonight, I'll be reading The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim.

Chapter 9 and 10.

In the previous chapters, Lady Caroline continued trying and failing to get some solitude at San Salvatore. She was first interrupted by the cook, wanting instructions for dinner,

then the housemaid looking for instructions on the house,

then the gardener who simply came to admire her,

all of whom interpreted her icy snubs as endearing character.

Finally, however, she was left alone,

at which time she began to have a slowly developing thought

that something was lacking from her life thus far.

Now that we're caught up with the story so far, let's get ourselves ready for sleep. Start by taking a deep, relaxing

breath and settle your body in whatever way feels most comfortable. Now let any thoughts of the day drift away from your mind and simply

follow the sound of my voice. So let your eyes fall heavy and your bread soften, as we settle in for a peaceful night's sleep. Chapter 9 That one of the two sitting-rooms which Mrs Fisher had taken for her own was a room of charm and character.

She surveyed it with satisfaction on going in after breakfast and was glad it was hers.
