Chapter 17 and 18

In the previous chapter, Rose, having seen the splendid attitude of Mr Wilkins since his arrival,

finally built up the courage to write to her

husband and ask him to stay, hoping that he might at least reply. Mrs Fisher was once again

struggling with strange feelings of restlessness and juvenility, briefly considering again

to talk to Lottie about it, before repressing the idea once more. And Mr. Wilkins,

meanwhile, continued to charm all four ladies of San Salvatore,

and everyone was enjoying the progression of an Italian spring.

Now that we're caught up with the story so far,

let's get ourselves ready for sleep.
