Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Now yesterday we reflected on deep friendship with Jesus. Today we

meditate on the great benefit of spiritual friendship with others.

Teresa of Avala is one of the greatest masters of the spiritual life.

Early on, she did not have friends who shared her love of God and pursuit of holiness,

so she found it very difficult to make progress by herself.

She writes,

A great evil it is for a soul to be alone in the midst of so many dangers.

It seems to me that if I should have had someone to talk all this over with, it would have helped me a great deal.

For this reason, I would counsel those who have

seek friendship with other persons who have the same interest.

I believe that those who discuss the joys and trials they undergo will benefit themselves and those who hear them,

and they will come away instructed, and even without understanding how, they will have instructed

their friends.

See, Teresa found a handful of friends who had her same goal of union with God and holiness.

Then she made a priority to spend time with them talking

about their spiritual journey and from that time forward she made great progress and

her journey was way more enjoyable.

That's the beauty of spiritual friendship.
