50 years ago, America was in a peculiar spot.

The political violence of the second half of the 1960s,

assassinations, constant riots,

the looting and burning of dozens of major American cities had withered down to a spate of

increasingly insane actions by terrorist groups such as the Weather Underground

and the Symbionese Liberation Army.

And most Americans by the mid-70s were tuned out when it came to the goals of that terror.

The complete destruction of the United States.

The frequent bombings and murders of highway patrolmen, policemen walking the beat, even random

citizens, were intended to trigger that collapse, ideally into a race war that would end

with the annihilation of 90% of Americans.

Charles Manson's version, Helter Skelter, he called it, differed only in the post-war fallout.

He preached that his notorious family of grifters and runaways would emerge from the ashes

to rule over the survivors.

Sarah Jane Kahn, born in 1930 to Olaf and Ruth K Khan in Charleston, West Virginia, played a strange

brief role in the domestic terror wave of the mid-1970s. When she was graduated from Stonewall

Jackson High School in 1947,
