Oh, uh, oh, uh,

uh, uh, uh, Hello and today we continue our journey through the

scripture as we explore and discover what happened the week of Easter. And today is Saturday.

Matthew Chapter 27, starting in verse 62.

The next day on the Sabbath, the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate.

They told him,

Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was still alive.

After three days I will rise from the dead.

So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day.

This will prevent his disciples from coming and stealing his body and then telling everyone that he was raised from the dead.

If that happens, we'll be worse off than where we were at first.

Pilot replied, take guards and secure it the best you can.

So they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it.

Saturday would have been a time for Jesus's followers

to recognize the Sabbath, so there are no actions recorded today for the followers of Christ. Now based on what they did on Sunday, we can probably assume that most of them are hiding in fear.

They're at home.

But we do know that the religious leaders

were concerned that Jesus would gain further notoriety

that the ministry of Christ would continue to grow because they had

heard that Jesus had claimed that he would be resurrected. So they wanted to do everything they

could to ensure that this was stopped.

And we know that Pilot agrees, but we're not really sure.
