Pacific is the result of an oceanic tectonic plate subducting under a continental plate.

But if plates are colliding with each other, then that means somewhere else they have to be splitting

These regions are called riffs. Most of the rs on Earth are found in the middle of the oceans.

Both the Atlantic and Pacific have major riffs which run for thousands of miles.

There are actually only two places on land where you can see two tectonic plates splitting apart.
