Very short, Khatira today, reminder of a beautiful Hadith.

One of the regular du'aaz of our Prophet ﷺ,

reported in Sahih Bukhadi, Sahih Muslim, and many other books.

Our Prophet ﷺ would regularly make this du'a, especially after Salah.

And it is the following.

This is the Hadith.

He would seek refuge in four things.

O Allah, I seek refuge in you.

A'udhu means to turn to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala

in order to protect you against something.

We say in English refuge, but ista'aadah means to turn for spiritual protection.

And because of this, you don't do ista'aadah except with Allah.

Ista'aadah is not physical protection, spiritual protection.

And so a part of our akhida and sharia, we only do ista'aadah with Allah Zawajal.

So Allah says in the Qur'an,

if shaitan touches you with any thought,

Fas'ta'id billahi minash shaitanu rajim, turn to Allah with ista'aadah.

It is not allowed, obviously, to turn to ista'aadah with other than Allah.

Ista'aadah is an act of worship.
