Special counsel, Jack Smith, the report revealed sufficient evidence to convict President-elect

Donald Trump of illegally attempting to overturn the 2020 election results, but the case was

dismissed following Trump's 2024 re-election due to constitutional protections for sitting presidents.

The report detailed Trump's alleged pressure on officials,

false claims of election fraud, and encouragement of violence during the January 6th Capitol riot,

accusing him of, quote, unprecedented efforts to unlawfully retain power, end quote. While Smith

defended the merits of the prosecution and denied political motivations,

Trump dismissed the findings as baseless.
