The Israel Defense Forces have issued an evacuation call to around 1 million Palestinian civilians in Gaza City,

urging them to move south for their safety amid expectations of an impending ground assault against Hamas militants.

The United Nations has expressed concern about the humanitarian consequences of such a massive evacuation,

and the World Health Organization has emphasized the need for immediate aid.

Egypt has resisted calls to allow civilians to cross its border through the Rafa crossing,

and Israel's former National Security Advisor called on Egypt to take responsibility for temporarily sheltering refugees.

European Parliament officials plan to visit Israel to express solidarity with the victims of the Hamas attacks,
