Our top stories from international outlets this morning.

US President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Christerson at the White House,

while NATO leaders prepare for an upcoming summit in Lithuania.

Sweden is seeking to join NATO due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with approval given by NATO leaders in 2022.

However, the ratification process requires unanimous agreement from current members and Turkey and Hungary have yet to ratify Sweden's bid.

Finland, on the other hand, was accepted into NATO in April.

President Biden and Prime Minister Christerson will discuss growing security cooperation and express their support for Sweden swift a session to NATO.

Turkey has criticized Sweden's approach to groups at Deem's terrorist organizations.

In a separate development, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg planned to convene talks among Turkey, Sweden, and Finland.

The meeting between Biden and Christerson will also cover coordination on China, climate change, and emerging technologies.

The virtual summit meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization brought together leaders from Russia, China, and India, each with their own agendas.

President Putin of Russia aimed to project strength after a recent mercenary group uprising and sought international support for his war in Ukraine.

China's President Xi used this summit as an opportunity to criticize the United States, calling for an end to hegemonism and power politics.
