Summary

👋 Hello friends! The Dragon and his Grandmother is a story about three soldiers that run away from the army and hide in the cornfields. They think the army will leave the next day and they’ll be free but the army stays and they are very hungry. When they realize that the army is not leaving they get ready to leave and get put in jail and then a dragon comes along and agrees to help them in exchange for them working for him. 0:15.0	Today's story is one I used to listen to with my children when they were young.
0:22.0	We would listen as we were driving in the car or doing things in the house.
0:28.0	My son loved all things it had to do with dragons, and this was a favorite story of his.
0:37.0	In this story, three soldiers are tired of working for the king for very little money,
0:45.0	and so they decide to desert or leave the army.
0:51.0	They hide in a cornfield thinking the army will be leaving the next day,
0:56.0	and then they can run away and live their lives.
1:00.0	But the army does not leave, and after two days they are very hungry.
1:07.0	A dragon comes to save them, but says they must work for him for seven years in return.
1:15.0	They agree to that, and the dragon helps them escape.

1:28.0	There was once a great war, and the king had a great many soldiers,
1:35.0	but he gave them so little pay that they could not live upon it.
1:42.0	Then, three of them had a meeting together and decided to desert.
1:49.0	One of them said to the other, if we are caught, we shall be thrown in the cells.
1:55.0	How shall we set about it?
1:58.0	The other said, do you see that large cornfield there?
2:02.0	If we were to hide ourselves in that, no one could find us.
2:08.0	The army cannot come into it, and tomorrow they are set to march on.
2:16.0	They crept into the corn, but the army did not march on, but remained camped close around them.
2:26.0	They sat for two days and two nights in the corn, and grew so hungry that they nearly passed out.
