Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking for fitness since 2013, averaging about 21,000 steps a day.

I am walking right now and would love to have you join me for the next 10 minutes.

I just had something really interesting happen.

Before I started recording, was walking, and a young man on a bicycle

was behind me. And typically what happens when, at least here in Myrtle Beach, and I don't think

this is too uncommon elsewhere,

when you've got someone on a bike sharing the same space with folks who are running or walking as they approach,

they either ring the little bell on the bike handlebars.

I'll let you know that someone's coming up behind you and, you know, give them a little bit of room.

Or, and this is what I tend to do, when there's still plenty of time, I just calmly say,

I'm coming up on your left, so that lets them know that I'm approaching, and I'll be on the left side of the pathway.

Well, this young man did neither of those. He started singing in Italian.

Opera. He was actually quite good.

And he passed by and said good morning and I said good morning to him and

I'm intrigued enough.

No, I'm not going to try that while I'm riding my bike. Who am I kidding?

First off, I don't know Italian.

Secondly, I can't sing.

And thirdly, even if I attempted to do something like that,

I think I would scare anybody that I'm approaching.
