Another Double X editor. And in New York,

we have Jessica Gross, our managing editor. Hi, Jess. Hi, guys. So today we're going to discuss three

topics. The first is Lara Logan, who is the CBS foreign correspondent who was brutally assaulted

in Egypt and why we have all had such strange reactions to her assault.

Second, we're going to talk about a new bullying study, which was covered in the New York

Times this week.

And finally, we're going to talk about mommy rage.

Is this something that we all have in us and have to take account of?

Before we start, I just want to say that we, a double X X have a rotating cast lately because Emily Bazelon, the other double X editor and I, Hannah Rosen, are actually technically on leave for the next few months. So we're going to have a rotating cast of about five of us, almost always Jess and Kate Julian and also Nina Restogi, who's been on the Scab Fest a couple of times, just to let you all know that.

Now, let's start with Lara Logan.

A lot of the coverage of what happened to Lara Logan in Egypt, which we don't know the details of but has been described as brutal, has had the undertones of she deserved it.

Jess, would you agree with that? And can you tell us a little bit about what happened and how it's been covered?

Sure. I mean, I think people have been blaming Lara Logan for two reasons. And it's, I mean, let me just say straight out that it's awful victim blaming. She's an incredibly brave investigative reporter and we all deeply respect her. But some of

the commentary online has been criticizing her, A, just for being a woman going into a war zone in the

first place, a lot of people think women just don't belong there in a way that I found shockingly regressive.
