Now we've already done an episode here on the docket about Adnan Sayed, and that was

back when his conviction of 22 years had been vacated by way of the state's attorney

of Baltimore County filing a motion to do so back in September of 2022.

Now if you're not familiar with the Heyman Lee slash Adnan Sayed case, which was the

focus of the podcast serial and many many other podcasts, here is the Cliff Notes version.

Back on January 13 of 1999, 19-year-old Heyman Lee vanished without a trace after leaving

Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County.

Her family reported her missing after she failed to pick up her little cousin from daycare,

which is something she would never do.

Now the cops didn't sit around on this one.

Now they began investigating her disappearance immediately.

They interviewed several witnesses in trying to build a timeline.

These witnesses were fellow students of Hayes, and one of them was a guy named Adnan Sayed,

who also happened to be Hay's ex-boyfriend.

Now this interview took place at about 6.30 p.m. on the day that Heyman vanished.

Sayed told police at that time that he had last seen Hay right around the time that school

had ended.

They also interviewed Hay's current boyfriend, who claimed that he had not seen her at

any point that entire day.

Now police would not discover Hayes partially buried body for a month after her disappearance.

On February 12, Baltimore PD received an anonymous phone call stating that they should focus

the investigation on her ex-boyfriend Adnan Sayed.
