Bismillah alhamdulillah wa salatu wa sallam wa ala Rasulillah wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa menu wa l-hama bad

It's reported in the Muslim-a bimma-mahmat and also other books of Hadith

that once the Prophet ﷺ was walking in the streets of Medina

and he saw a person in the distance, a Bedouin, taking a Rasul without any clothes on

in the public and this was something the Bedouins did.

The Prophet ﷺ walked to the masjid and he stood on the member and he gave a mini khutbah

and by the way, the Prophet ﷺ would often give the mohidah or the khatira from the member

that was the default, not just the khutbah

he would stand and he would give what we give the khatira here, he would give it on his member

and he said

And Sittir, he loves to cover, you Hibbus Sattir, he loves to cover

so when one of you takes a Rasul fel Yastatir, let him cover himself

This Hadith teaches us, it is the only Hadith in which one of the names of Allah occurs

and that is a Sittir, this name is not found in the Qur'an

there are a number of names that are found only in the Hadith

and this is one of those names of Allah that is found in the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ

Sittir from the root Sattirah and Sattirah means to cover up

Sattirah means to envelope so that you don't see

and therefore we call the curtain Sittar because it covers up

we call the curtain Sittar because it's covering what is behind it

Sittir, ala waznefe'il, it means the one who covers up regardless of how large
