All right, friends, today we're looking at the book of First Kings chapter 12, so get out your Bibles.

are in this storyline, David was God's anointed king, God's king who he gave a promise to, that someone of his line would sit on the throne

forever. David's son Solomon became king. Solomon became unwise, introduced idolatry into the

nation of Israel, which was a big no-no, because it expresses lack of loyalty to Yahweh as their God.

And so at the point we're at, Solomon has passed away. His son Rehoboam is now king. And we pick up in 1st Kings chapter 12 versus 12 through 16.
