TIMESTAMPS
  • Madalina Cojocari (7:35)
Every 40 seconds, a child goes missing or is abducted in the United States. Approximately 840,000 people are reported missing each year and the F.B.I. estimates that between 85 and 90 percent of these are children.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the separate cases of Madalina Cojocari and Charlotte Sena.

Madalina Cojocari was 11 years old when she was last seen getting off the school bus in North Carolina on November 21, 2022. Madalina did not attend school after that date. By mid December, school officials were concerned and asked to meet with Madalina and her parents. Madalina’s mother Diana showed up to the school on December 15 and confessed that she did not know where her daughter was. The FBI became involved quickly. Madalina’s case is strange and confusing. Both her mother and step-father have been arrested and charged with failing to report the disappearance of a child. As of October 2023, Madalina remains missing.

Charlotte Sena (9) was camping with her family in a state park in New York on September 30, 2023. She told her cousins that she was going for a quick bike ride before returning to their campsite. Her family became alarmed very quickly when she did not return, and they found her bike abandoned nearby. A few days later, on October 2, a man named Craig Ross Jr delivered a ransom note to the Sena home. It is believed he forced Charlotte to write the note, and in it, he demanded $50,000 for her safe return. Police moved quickly and tracked him down hours later. Charlotte was found alive, hidden in a cupboard in his grimy trailer.
