young age of 21, disappear without any warning. Her friends and family held out hope until

Bethany Ann Littlejohn, born May 13, 1989, and a native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, began attending

George Mason University in Fairfax after

graduating high school where she was majoring in global and economic change while working

full-time to make ends meet. It was that she met an Army National Guardsman named

Emile Decker, and after finding out that she was pregnant, the pair married in 2009 and six months later welcomed their son into their family.

Because he was on active duty, Emil was often deployed in Afghanistan for months at a time, leaving Bethany behind to care for their son.

Needing to work and complete her classes, Bethany often left her son in the care of her

in-laws in Columbia, Maryland, while she worked shifts at a Centerville Italian restaurant.
