My name is Daniel Denver, and I'm broadcasting from Providence, Rhode Island. Zohran Mamdani's inauguration on January 1st will mark an important new chapter in the new

American socialist project that has been vying for power for a decade.

Now it's time for governance in all of the opportunities, constraints, and contradictions

that'll entail.

That's what I discussed last week at a live dig in Brooklyn with Sumathi Kumar, Sumaya

Awad, and Nathan Gustorf.

Over the coming months and years, I want to make the dig a platform to

interpret and debate this project because the answers to so many of the big questions that

will be posed by this experience, they will not be obvious ones. The left must learn to navigate

building power on the ground as our allies navigate exercising power from above,

all in the service of a larger hegemonic project to win and exercise power across the United

States and the world. We're building a historic block that can defeat Trumpism and begin building a social democratic and then socialist order to permanently displace it.
