What do you turn with me in your Bibles to Matthew chapter 27?

Now if you didn't know over the next few weeks, we are actually going to finish the book

of Matthew.

Like in real time, we've been saying we're going to finish the book of Matthew.

We are going to finish it.

We are actually in the home stretch.

The next couple weeks, this is it.

We're going to kind of nail it down.

We've got some really great teachers who are going to help us kind of in the series,

With that, I've asked Kristiana to read our text this morning.

Matthew chapter 27, we're going to start in verse 27.

Would you stand with me for the reading of God's Word?

The governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of

soldiers around him.

They stripped him in a scarlet robe and put a scarlet robe on him and then twisted together

a crown of thorns and set it on his head.

They put a staff in his right hand, then they knelt in front of him and mocked him.

Hail, King of the Jews, they said, they spit on him and took the staff and struck him on

the head again and again.

And after they had mocked him, they took the robe and put his own clothes on him, then

they led him away to crucify him.
