My name is Heath Lambert and I'm the executive director of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.

That is a new name for us. We've been around for almost 40 years. We're historically called Nank, the National Association of New Thetic counselors,

but we changed the name a few years ago because nobody knew what New Thetic meant.

And if you actually find out what it means, it's

actually a very limited kind of counseling that we don't endorse. So we thought by the time we're

having to explain our name two or three different times to everybody, it's not a very good name.

So we're the association of certified biblical

counselors now are ACBC but still doing the same thing we've been around for 40

years certifying people who are competent to do biblical counseling the

biblical counseling movement has been something of the wild wild west of

counseling with no with not a lot of standards

and kind of this person doing this thing over here and that person doing that thing over here and so

our main goal is to sort of standardize best practices within the biblical counseling movement so we're a

certifying organization and so I'm the executive

director there and have been doing that since 2013. So I'm still pretty new. And then I'm also the

associate professor of biblical counseling at Southern Seminary. So those are my two hats. But the reason

I'm here is because of ACBC, we have an annual conference every year on topic that's relevant to counseling issues and host people from all over the country and the world at that conference.

This year that's in Louisville, Kentucky.
