So guys, have you ever actually lived through a Brood X year in DC?

Not in DC, but I have in Nashville.

It's a weird prime number of a year, every 17 years.

And I think that like, we always have those games about who's really been in this town

a long time and who hasn't.

But if you've lived through more than one Brood X, I think you're an old timer.

This year will be my third.

And what makes Brood X special?

Well, it's huge because I was born here, but moved away when I was young.

But I remember coming back to the visit in August or like in the summer and the cicada

shells crunching under my feet and thinking it was revolting.

And like DC, like, I don't know why my parents were so nostalgic because we did not have

this shit in California.

This plague stuff wasn't a thing.

So I want to say a word in defense of the Brood X cicadas.

First of all, Shane, what makes them different from all other cicadas is that it is a swarm

of genuinely biblical.
