Welcome in to another episode of DeCecho Daily, Andrew DeCecho Eagles beat reporter for

inside the birds.com.

The positional preview series continues on with a look at the defensive tackle room for the

Philadelphia Eagles. And it's arguably the deepest position on the roster. Long term, though,

it could be an issue because there's some contracts that expire at the end of this season.

But let's kind of run through it because

the Eagles have a very well-rounded group, and it starts with Jalen Carter.

And Jalen Carter, when he's at his best, is one of, if not the best defensive tackle in the

game. There's Chris Jones, you know, there's other players that I don't want to

discredit. But I think when you look at Jalen Carter in terms of age, his skill set with that,

in terms of athleticism and violence that he plays the game with, he's a difficult force to

contain when he's fully healthy.

And last season, he was not himself, his usual dominant self.

He had the shoulders injuries that if you go back and watch that Chicago Bears game,

it was very evident he couldn't engage with offensive linemen.

He was moving laterally.

And that's not obviously where he's at his best.

He's at his best when he's attacking downhill and using his hands and just sort of playing with a physical

demeanor that he always plays with. And that was evident last season that something was a miss.
