| 0:00.0 | Hey, what's going on, everyone. Welcome into another episode. This is DeCecho Daily. Andrew DeCechko, Eagles beat reporter for Inside the Birds.com. Let's get the housekeeping items out of the way. |
| 0:29.4 | The Eagles on Monday afternoon picked up the fifth year options for defensive tackle Jalen Carter and edge rusher Nolan Smith. |
| 0:30.9 | Not a surprise there. |
| 0:31.9 | That was expected. |
| 0:36.6 | Both players will be Eagles through the 2027 season. |
| 0:41.5 | And Jalen Carter's salary for 2027 will be $27, and Nolan Smith will be 13.7. Both players figured to continue to be cornerstone defensive pieces |

| 1:01.3 | And he has the ability, and we've seen it, to take over games. |
| 1:06.1 | Last season, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. |
| 1:08.8 | He was dealing with the shoulders injuries, and we'll see how he responds and rebounds from |

| 1:20.2 | But he's a dominant force and I do believe that a return to form is in the cards. |
| 1:27.4 | Nolan Smith's a little different because he's had some bright moments, but it hasn't |
| 1:34.2 | been sustainable. |
| 1:35.4 | It hasn't been as consistent. |
| 1:37.2 | When it comes to run defense, pound for pound, I think Nolan Smith might be the best |
| 1:43.0 | in the NFL or among the best in the NFL. |
| 1:46.2 | He plays anywhere from 238 to 245. |
| 1:49.1 | He throws his body around with reckless abandon and really sets the edge with violence and authority. |
| 1:55.7 | I love watching him play. |
| 1:57.8 | I mentioned Morrow Jomo being one of my favorite players to watch on the Eagles defense. |
