Andrew DeCechko here, Eagles Beat Reporter for Inside thebirds.com. And this is going to be a quick

podcast today, but the cornerback position isn't one that's

off discussed when looking at the NFL draft and the Eagles needs, but it is a sneaky

need when you look at the future of that position beyond Quignan Mitchell and Cooper DeGine.

And I'm going to go through four cornerbacks who I like, and I'll tell you what rounds I have

them projected and how they might fit in a Vic Van Gio defense. The first one, and really the

first two, are two of my favorite cornerbacks in this draft class, and the first one probably

isn't a surprise. It's Chris Johnson from San Diego State.

Look, I think he's a top 35, top 40 player who could find his way into the first round.

So it would probably not necessarily align with where the Eagles are picking at 23.

But you never know. With a tradeback scenario or even a trade up, it's not totally out of

the realm of possibility, though they do have far more pressing needs. And I don't think that

taking a corner at 23, even if it's Avion Terrell, would be necessarily the best value at that spot.

But nevertheless, Chris Johnson has really good size, tested well,

two-year starter for San Diego State, played some special teams his first two years

and contributed sporadically.

I talked about that in the interview that I did with him,

but highly intelligent player who can play inside or outside,

I look at him as a boundary corner at the next level.

Good eye discipline.

He can read the eyes of a quarterback, which speaks to his football acumen,
